Hey there, I just missed my warranty by 7 months and i am now receiving 'smart check: failed' - what are my options? - it seems to me that a hard drive should be covered for more than just a year on a unit that I paid almost $1000. - Is the HD covered elsewhere? thnx -ev

The standard warranty is for one year for most notebooks unless you purchased an extended warranty.
Most new Envy notebooks have two years and many business notebooks have three. You can check your warranty status here.
If you have the imminent hard disk failure error message then do a clone of your entire hard disk to an external storage medium today.. Do not procrastinate on this!!
There is a free version of Macrium Reflect available here. Clone the ndrive to an external disk.
