The mini Netbbook 110-3000 i am using w/ QuickWeb is severly crippled by the lack of any functional method to generate Home, End, PgUp, PgDn, - i have exhaustively tried ALL permutations (so called elbow testing) of Shift, FN, Ctrl, Alt (16 possible combinations) with each of the arrow keys and f1 to f12 keys, prt scr, del, ....
Nada for realizing any superior cursor movement. Irritating that the machine (110-3000) is so crippled.
As an aside on boot pressing:
F1 - gives a hardware serial number and component identification splash screen
F2 - triggers the diagnostics tests (assuming the machine IS functioning otherwise we can't run the diagnostics - right?! - nudge nudge, wink wink, say no more say no more)
F9 - gives a boot device selection menu
F10 - triggers BIOS configuration
F11 - boots to the first option that is not QuickWeb
F12 - forces NIC card boot if it is enabled otherwise it is ignored
re: F2 say no more say no more - I will - The HD factory partitioning fully populates all available parttions so it is not possible to fully deploy the HD with a good functional OS while maintaining factory functionality - there you have it - a computer that is meant to be used but cannot be because of bad engineering design which cripples user configurability of the HD (of course as most machines can boot an SD card this would solve the problem but the SD slot is not bootable - however the USB is bootable but this compromises the integrity of the portable geometry since having a dongle stick outside the machine risks mechanical breakage in transport )
I won't mention the lack of QuickWeb 1.2.17.2 functionality for a scrolling mouse pad, bluetooth, video port, etc. or it's inabiltiy to view the most elemental of web based technical document formats, PDF's, will I?

The solution you mention, using the space bar, ONLY works for Web pages and some documents. It doesn't work, for instance, to move up and down pages in a PPT or Open Office Presentation file. That is the most annoying. You are giving a presentation at a conference and you have to switch to page layout mode and click on pages in order to move backwards in the file

The CQ10-400 and 110-3000 series does not have the Home,End, Page Up and Page Down functionality on the keyboard. What you can do is use the attached software to bring that functionality...
To do that...
- Extract hotkey_ext.exe and hotkey_ext.ahk files to any location you like from the zip file...
- Double click hotkey_ext.exe to launch it.
This will bring...
- page-up by left control + up key combo
- page down by left control + down key combo
- home by left control + left key combo
- end by left control + right key combo
Let me know if it helps...

@ SlowDribble - This is just windows based software work around for the issue, as the BIOS does not support it and the application will need to load on start up to work....

exactly -
the BIOS F1 help instructions requires the PageDown key for further information but there is no PageDown key or equivalent functionality - this clearly demonstrates a manufacturing flaw of the 110-3018ca which can be fixed either by a proper release of a BIOS flash upgrade which does not require a PageDown key or by fixing the keyboard - the BIOS was specifically identified as a problem because it is exclusively the realm of the OEM (HP in this case) and not dependent on 3rd party OS software such as QuickWeb (from DeviceVM / SplashTop Inc.) or Windows 7 (from muSoft)
there is still the problem of restoring a factory spec'd system when there is a HD crash - QuickWeb 1.2.,17.x is installed but there is no recovery software available to reinstall it on a new drive - in fact HP tools will also need reinstalling - How can a system be restored when there are NO (complete) backup resources available to do it? - the acid test is remove the HD and pop in a new one and see if you can get full functionality back with your backups - good luck - all primary partitions are fully populated from the factory but only windows 7 can be restored - where are the HP tools, QuickWeb, etc. recovery resources?
QuickWeb is an amputated and crippled system lacking complete hardware support such as for mouse pad scrolling, BlueTooth, and external video ... - booting an external generic Ubuntu system provides all these features at the expense of having to lug around an external drive/stick defeating the purpose of a small net book that is self contained and where the HD has no capacity for permanent residency of a properly conditioned functioning QW because the HD is fully populated, exhausting all primary partitions as supplied from the factory
it is possible to migrate a primary partition into an extended partition but ... the oops factor is so significant reliable COMPLETE recovery resources are required in order to proceed with confidence and impunity - this little excercise underscores the same recovery necessity should a HD fail out of warranty and is replaced with a generic off-the-shelf new drive - (what's that I hear you say, as told to me by HP tech. support, "only HP can do this for >>price of a new machine" (sic) - ridiculous!)

I was also annoyed about the lack of Page-Up / Page-Down buttons, epecially for word processing. For me this fix was almost perfect, so thanks very much. However, I use ctrl-left and ctrl-right to move through words, which didn't work while using the Hotkeys fix. Would it be possible to keep only the Page-Up / -Down changes?
