need Hard disc replacement for HP G60-530US

where can I get a replacement hard drive for my notebook HP G60-530US.  It is out of warrenty by a few months. Where do I look and what do I look for. Are there identifing numbers on the original HD to look for.

You can order a replacement hard drive from HP Partsurfer.  The original hard drive is no longer available.

Did you make a set of the HP Recovery Disks?  HP Recovery Disks.

Hi,

Normal 2.5" SATA HDD on the market today can fit the bill. Only for 1TB HDD you need to look at its thickness because some of them are a bit thicker. In general you can follow these steps:

You have to use your Recovery disc for new HDD or your have to order (if you didn't create one) a new set from HP using this link

can I replace with 7200rpm hard drive? will this notebook handle it or do I need to stay with the 5400rpm?

Hi,

I don't see any reason why a 7200 RPM hard drive would not work. 

I put SSDs in both of my latops and didn't have any issues.  One SSD needed a firmware update but otherwise no issues.

You might want to double check the size of the hard drive to make sure that a standard 2.5" laptop drive will fit inside the hard drive caddy.
