Hi, in short words:
my dv2000 broke 3rd time (yes, graphic card issue) so i got myself new laptop, however I have some data on dv2000 i want to retrive. My first thought was to buy one of the 2,5" hard drive cases and simply put the hard drive there and copy all the files i want.
Of course its never that easy.... case I bought is a Lupo 2.5" HDD External Case, description said its for SATA HDDs, and thats true it is BUT the dv2000 HDD doesnt fit into that case, yes both are SATA, but its the design of the case that might be flawed and not fit all of the laptops HDDs....
My question is, since the laptop wont boot up properly, is there other way i can get the files? Or maybe one of you know the other 2.5" HDD case that will fIt to the dv2000 HDD?
my dv2000 HDD specs:
Fujitsu 120 GB
model: MHV2120BH PL
looking forward to your replies

The hard disk should fit in the SATA external enclosure if it is indeed a SATA external enclosure.
What is the part number on the Lupo external enclosure?
The drive must be completely by itself with no other connectors obstructing the port and the data port. Your disk has to look like this. This one is a WD Scorpio 2.5" notebook SATA. If not, then it is IDE.
Frankly...I just let the notebook SATA drive hang (insulated from everything else) with a SATA power connector and a sata data connector from one of the ports on my shop PC. I then power up the PC, scan the notebook drive with ESET, browse the disk and remove data for my clients. That is the easy way without laying out any cash for an enclosure.

Hi,
In the photo it looks like the hard drive has a connector on it that goes between the hard disk and where it is connected in the notebook's hard disk caddy.
I just checked in the manual.
Remove the connector and it should fit.
Best regards,
erico

you were right! How could I miss that.... indeed hardrive had a tiny connector on it. Now it fits with no problem, whatsoever.
Big hi five to you Erico ![]()
