Re: pavillion dv6 touchpad and mouse not working

It looks your USB driver is corrupted or messed up which is causing this problem.

I would recommend you to run Microsoft Fixit from below link

Re: pavillion dv6 touchpad and mouse not working

Good day kamat_hp... thanks for your help. i dont think its the USB driver since i am able to plug in my flash drives and works fine. never the less, i downloaded the link that you recommended, yet the problem in my laptop still unsolve.

Problem detected using MS FIXIT:

HID-compliant Mouse (reinstall driver - problem still exist)

Synaptics ps/2 port touchpad(reinstall driver - problem still exist)

thank you so much for answering my questions... tnx

Re: pavillion dv6 touchpad and mouse not working

Could you logon to safe mode and check if your touchpad and external mouse works fine? The reason been it uses Microsoft windows generic drivers instead of synaptics one.

Re: pavillion dv6 touchpad and mouse not working

Hi Mr. Kamat_HP,

I have a Pavillion dm4 3050us. I also have touchpad issues. I have restored to factory state on three different occasions already. The touchpad will work but only for a while (ranging from days to a month) and then it will become stuck again. I don't believe that this is a hardware issue but a software/driver one.

I have tried re-installing the drivers many times and also the BIOS update but to no avail.

When looking for the pointing device in the device manager list, the touchpad is nowhere to be found.

I am currently performing a factory restoration again.

Can you assist me please?

Thanks

When you say factory restore,Is it a recovery using recovery partition or recovery disk OR are you performing a system restore option present in windows ?

Re: pavillion dv6 touchpad and mouse not working

Good Evening,

Initially I have tried restoring to an earlier state of windows but this has not worked.

Most of the restorations I have done were using the restore disks created as advised by HP or the recovery partition. I have even ordered new recovery disks but these do not seem to assist in solving the problem. Currently, the system works well, but there is no touchpad use.

This is rather inconvenient because i use the laptop at school.
