hi there i have a HP Pavilion DV6 1216sa and what I was wondering is does the laptop have to be continually plugged in and charging when not in use?
the reason i am asking is that i have a laptop thats 6 years old and is hp and does not have to be plugged in when not in use. I previously had a sony laptop that had to be plugged into the mains at all times when not in use or when battery went down i had to start from square one as i had wiped all info kind of like a format.
Does the DV6 drain of power when not in use and plugged in causing the same issue? battery to drain for example
hope you know where i am coming from
many thanks
Heather

By not in use do you mean:
1. notebook is shut down and turned off? or
2. in hibernation, or
3. in sleep, or
4. is no, but not in use (screen saver?) or
5. was on, put down the lid (screen) - and do you have power plan set?
If shutdown, should not drain battery. if sleep, should use very little.
I am an HP employee.
