Hi,
Can you post back with the following.
1. The full Model No. and Product No. of the notebook ( from the service tag underneath your notebook ) - see Here for a further explanation.
2. The full version of the operating system you are using ( ie Windows 7 32bit ).
Regards,
DP-K

Uninstall the wireless driver and reinstall the Hardware driver from within Windows using the Recovery manager.
This way you don't have to download anything.
The original drivers in pristine condition are already in your hard drive and waiting to be reinstalled. You can do the same thing with the quicklaunch button software by selecting Software Program Reinstallation at the first Recovery manager window..
Start-->All Programs-->HP-->Recovery Manager
Select the wireless driver and then click on Next.

Hi,
Unless you have already done so, download and apply the firmware update for the capacitive strip on the link below that is meant to correct this particular issue.
After the update has been applied, restart the notebook.

My HP dv8 computer came highly recommended (had choice between Apple or HP; shoulda, coulda, woulda) but has never worked correctly. I have batteled HP from day one with this. It has been in twice for service to "correct" same HP issue. It has never worked. HP even extended the warrantee an additional year, but it is impossible to fix a lemon.
I I have tried to correct repeatedly via restore and patch tactics, typically it works for a few hours sometimes a day at most.
I was sold a lemon. When you make a million of anything a few will inevitably not work.
Can anyone at HP provide actual assistance/ support for this? Or is my HP computer, much like HPQ stock of late a loss?
Sincerely,
Coulda of been an extremely faithful customer
