My DVD drive has died and I am looking to replace it with a lightscribe drive do you know a compatible lightscribe dvd burner for the presario 500?
Also would like to upgrade my hard disk, present disk is a seagate momentus 80GB ST980821AS so a SATA drive but not sure if this is SATA 300 or SATA 150. Any Recommendations. I know the momentus 300 can be set to 159 but also note your recommendations on replacement drives. Looking at western digital scorpion 320GB

This eBay seller says they have Lightscribe drives for the C500:
I have never really been a fan of Lightscribe and never met anybody who uses it extensively. The label burning is very slow and the media is still pricey. You can get a compatible drive for less money than these folks are asking.
As far as the hard drive it does not really matter if you use a SATA-150 or SATA-300, either will work. The WD Scorpio Blue 320 gig is a good choice. Problems have been reported with 500 gig drives and 7200 rpm drives so stick with a 320 gig 5400 rpm drive for max compatibility.
