usb ports

I have a Presario R3000, R3202US, PF137UA#ABA, I bought a hp printer but when I try to plug it into any of the 3 USB ports the printer is not detected. Any advice?

Do other USB devices work (mouse, camera, mp3player.etc.. whatever you have around)?

 

Have you tried another cable?

 

Have you made sure the cable you are using is 6 feet or shorter in length?

 

Did you check your device manager to make sure there were no errors or warnings for your USB system?
