I have really been enjoying my HP Vista computer! It still runs beautifully! (I once restarted the computer from scratch -- and since then -- back to factory speed)
computer: hp pavilion dv6648SE
I have had one problem recently: it seems the monitor (or webcam) of my laptop has a loose connection. If any time during a Skype call (or video capture program) I move my monitor (screen) up or down -- I loose my webcam picture. The blue light next to the camera still lights up -- but it produces no picture. And there is no way to get it back. I have tried closing and quitting Skype -- still nothing.....
The only way I get the webcam to work again is to restart my computer! Then we have the pictures back.
The whole procedure (of restarting the computer) takes me around 10 minutes.
Question: Might there be any easier way to get the webcam working properly than restarting my (Vista) computer?

I have succeded in one improvement:
Till now, the only way I could fix the problem was to turn the computer all the way off.
I now have noticed that by just putting the computer to 'sleep' and waking 'him' back up -- the webcam works again.
A little improvement... ![]()

**bleep**, I have the same problem as well. My laptap sometimes even blue screens when the problem occurs but not that often. Usually it happens exactly like you describe it especially with skype or MSN vid chat.
I am thinking of sending it in for repair (have a 3yr warranty on it.).
Good luck.
