The XP driver for this model is probably not avaliable...
This series was never released with XP as an option. So, as a consequance, no XP drivers were ever manufactured for that system. This series, along with any series of notebook that came out AFTER Microsoft stoped production of XP, is unlikly to have any XP drivers avalibale for it. It's not so much that HP has the drivers and doens't put them online, but that model was never produced with XP, so XP drivers were never even written let alone published for public download. It would seem like an easy thing to just change the operating system, but unlike a DESKTOP, Notebook parts are manufactured in a very specific way for each model and each manufacturer. So when you go looking for your video card, lan, and other hardware drivers it is not a matter of just finding the XP version of a common peice of equipment, you are limited to the very specific configuration the part was manufactured and intended for.
Sorry, I know that seems bleak, but the best course of action if to restore your computer to Vista and learn all of the ways to configure it to do what you need it to do. If this were a desktop you would have more freedom to make that change, but when buying notebooks you have to keep in mind that it can't be changed in the same ways as a desktop, and that the configuration you buy is what you are stuck with. Unfortunatly XP isn't even a choice anymore in about 99% of cases since Microsoft stopped production of it. One thing to keep in mind though is that Vista really isn't THAT much worse than XP, in fact in a lot of ways its much easier to use, it's just more of a performance hog, but even that can be corrected by adjusting the proper settings.
A side note though, despite the fact that the Operating system change IS NOT supported by HP, if you know where to go you can SOMETIMES find the drivers you need. Be careful though, third party drivers, or drivers that aer just "close enough" but no really intended for your system CAN void your warranty.
