CPU Overheating on Windows 8

HP Pavilion dv7-4169wm Entertainment Notebook

Hi,

I have recently installed Windows 8 RTM on my laptop.

The CPU is overheating and I'm not sure why...

The CPU is fine when I run Windows 7, so I think it may be a driver issue.

Is anyone else experiencing this issue? Any ideas?

thanks

Re: CPU Overheating on Windows 8

Ditto! I just upgraded my DV7 laptop to Windows 8 and it started overheating, very loud, while plugged in. I shut it down until I get an answer. I don't want to jeopardize my fairly new laptop.

CPU Overheating on Windows 8

Overheating is never good so make sure when you start seeing the symptoms of overheating that your immediately shut down the computer. What graphics driver are you using? I think both of these laptops support the switchable graphics cards. Let me know what graphics card you have the laptops setup to run on.

Thanks,

Re: CPU Overheating on Windows 8

I really don't know.  Can you help me figure that out? I'm in device manager. I clicked on Display adapters. It says I have Intel HD Graphics 3000.  Nothing else.

Under sound, video and game controllers, it says

IDT High Definition Audio coec and intel display audio

Re: CPU Overheating on Windows 8

I also have the same problem. My laptop is a HP pavilion dv3 with Intel core i3 and switchable graphics (Intel onboard graphic and ATI). Any solutions to this weird problem?

I might just downgrade to Windows 7...shame that. I was beginning to get used to Windows 8 as well.

Re: CPU Overheating on Windows 8

@sunilnc , before you do that, try a trick I did an see if it works. I changed the power usage plan on my PC and under the advance section decreased the CPU usage to 85 percent. I just tried it and not sure if it works. Hope it does!
