Hi there!. I recently buyed a HP Pavilion dm4-2070us and yesteday I have updated the BIOS. The problem is that now when I connect the charger to the notebook (with the battery plugged) no charging occurs and the led that is right next to the AC connector flashes. What is happening? Is a problem of the BIOS update? Should I return to the old version of the BIOS?. Thanks a lot!

Before updating the BIOS the charging of the battery worked well. When I updated the BIOS and during the process of update the notebook suddenly hangs up so I wait a couple of hours and I restart the notebook. At this point and until today the charging of the battery doest not work. Big problem!.

Yes, safe mode is best, but some installers will not run in safe mode, if it does not work in safe mode then a clean boot is the next best thing.
To Boot Clean in Windows 7 and Vista
Accessing the System Configuration Utility
A. Click Start type msconfig in the search box and press Enter
Configure Selective Startup options
1. On the General tab, choose Selective Startup
2. Uncheck Load Startup Items
3. Select the Services tab
4. Check Hide all Microsoft services
5. Click Disable all
6. Click on OK
7. Click Restart.
perform the bios update and restart the pc
Then restore your system to normal boot by doing the following:
1. Click Start type msconfig in the search box and press Enter
2. On the General tab, choose Normal Startup
3. Click Ok
4. Click Yes, when asked to restart your computer.

Mumbodog I succesfully updated the BIOS without any problem but the charging problem persist. The light right next the AC plug flashes with the battery plugged and even when I connect the AC cable. I don't know whats is happening. Do you have an idea of the possible origin of this problem? Thanks!

The HP Support Assistant has a battery check you can run, see if maybe it is a problem with the battey
