Clicking sound from laptop even in mute!

Hi,

My HP-G42 laptop is making feabile clicking noise. I contatcted HP support team they took it for 3 days and gave it back. Still the problem is not resolved.

I checked through some forums and the suggestion is that it could be from the hard disk. The harddisk reader head parking for energy savings could be making the sound(need clarrification). So the harddisk is dieing.

Could someone help?

Re: Clicking sound from laptop even in mute!

Run a full check on your drive (SMART), this will tell you if you have a problem with it, or if it is just wear and tear.

Re: Clicking sound from laptop even in mute!

I think the problem is with the "load cycle ". the count is increasing each time after the click is heard.

Ummmm,,,

Recovery Disk and/or a Mirror Image?

Me thinks your HDD may,,, poo poo on you!

Some of the values arre just too high for my liking.

You could pull the HDD and hook it up via a USB to a desktop, run some stuff and find out if it IS making the clicking noise, if not the fan?

OH,,,and BTW,,,if it gets so hot you can boil coffee on it,,,well,,,you know!
