I have a brand new HP Envy 15. Inserted a DVD for the first time in the slot loading drive. Movie played fine but when I went to eject the disc it will not come out. I can hear the mechanism engaging but it just attempts to eject then reloads the disc. Unfortunately no manual ejection hole on it.

The only thing that I found is this useless article.
I was hoping for an access door that would allow you to manually eject the DVD, but there isn't one.
It finally gets to the point at the bottom of the page and says to contact HP for a service call.
I also checked the service manuals and it's very involved to physically to remove the drive to access the DVD, you would void the warrantee if you went that far.
The only thing left to do is to contact HP for a repair or replacement, the drive is defective.
Personally if this was nine I would be very annoyed after spending a fair amount of money only to have the Envy defective. I would exchange it for a new one.
It was probably put together on a Friday afternoon before the party or on a Monday morning after the party. Who knows what else is wrong with it, exchange it for a new one.

Had the same exact problem with mine. Put a DVD in for the first time and it didn't eject.
I called HP and they were helpful in the matter.
I have 2yrs. in home so they're dispatching a guy to come fix it. Hopefully this isn't a common mishap, especially on such a high end model.

If there's no manual eject button on this type of external loading drive, the machine will have to be disassembled to get your disc out.
You could try ejecting it in Computer or Windows Media Center has an eject button that may work.
