Dv6 6031eo, disable Intel graphic via BIOS?

Greetings,

Is there any way to disable the Intel graphics completely on this machine? I have no desire to swap in between options for either intel or amd - neither have I found any ways to disable it via BIOS.

Are there any future plans for a more 'complex' BIOS, or at least tweak a few options for our needs?

...or are there simply a way to knock this worthless integrated graphic once and for all?

I don't mean to be rude, but I'm guessing you didn't take your time enough to read my post properly. If you read it again and then your reply, you'll see that they have nothing in common.

I want a permanent solution, not a simple switchable graphic - that option is quite obvious. :smileywink:

I read your post properly and understood what you meant. Switchable graphics is a feature introduced on HP Notebooks mainly to save battery power. There is no way you can disable the switchable graphics on HP notebooks as of now.

Earlier in Fixed Mode switchable graphics, you could stop the switching from happening... by Unchecking option 'Automatically select power-saving GPU when on battery' in Configure Switchable Graphic Panel but your Notebook has Dynamic Mode where its a litte different.

As per my knowledge, the feature which you are asking for is available on lenovo notebooks  through BIOS, where switchable graphics can be disabled. An option is provided where you can change the Graphics Device from Switchable Graphics (the default) to either Integrated Graphics or Discrete Graphics, whichever you prefer.

This has been suggested and its been addressed. Kindly wait for BIOS update which would be coming out soon.

Re: Dv6 6031eo, disable Intel graphic via BIOS?

Once again, sorry if my post was harsh; but your last post really answered everything, thank you.

I kinda jumped up- and down in the chair when I saw the screenshot, thought there was a hidden option, hehe.

I'll sit here and wait for a future BIOS update, I'm really looking forward to it.

Thank you for your in-depth answer and the quick reply.

All my respect to HP!

Sincerely yours,

I never thought or interpreted your post was harsh. Just that, my first reply did answer your question but may be didnt explain it clearly.

Also, just to give you a heads up, the screenshot shown above is from a BIOS of a Lenovo thinkpad and it may or may not be implemented similarly on HP notebooks but it would definitely address your concern as well alongwith the OpenGL application problem.

How will we know when this BIOS update is available?  If it is going to be a long time, I will need to buy a different laptop.  My work applications require open GL.

Re: Dv6 6031eo, disable Intel graphic via BIOS?

you won't.

Hp are a bunch of liars.

Example :

HP Pavilion dv7 6031eo

  • Check-out the date of drivers in the download page : http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?os=4063&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&sw_lang=&product=5095...
  • Cannout UPDATE Graphic card driver to latest version. I am still using 3 year old driver. Because of switchable graphic cards AMD will not provide me with driver. HP will not update theirs
  • The machine heats up to insane degree
  • HP drive Guard and HP cooling assistant works with dv7 6031eo, BUT THEY HAVE NOT GIVEN IT IN DOWNLOADS PAGE
  • The harddisk in dv7 6031eo gives bad sectors
  • They have not updated a single driver in last 3 years

This is the last time I am buying HP and I will tell the same to others.
