~2014.05.13~
I've made the move from Windows Vista to Windows v.8.1 on my HP Pavilion dv7-2173cl Entertainment Notebook.
I get the following error message:
''Solve a Problem with Your Infared Receiver'' -
"Your infrared receiver has stopped working properly because a compatible driver isn't available for this version of Windows. The model name of your infrared receiver is ENE CIR Receiver. This device is distributed by many different PC
manufacturers. To find out if an updated version of your infrared receiver is available, contact your device or PC manufacturer."
WHERE DO I FIND THE DRIVER "because a compatible driver isn't available for" Windows v.8.1?
My research shows:

Mr. Tikkanen:
Found many ENE CIR ["Consumer Infrared Receiver"] drivers at HP w/ various release dates, file names, file sizes, & versions all compatibile w/ Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit), et. al. Your version, 2.7.4.0 A, is indeed the most recent.
Even tho this'n was for removal of the ENE CIR driver it was helpful info to understand what the driver is: http://www.shouldiremoveit.com/ENE-CIR-Receiver-Driver-16850-program.aspx.
Thanks...
P.S. What does the company name "ENE" stand for?
