Hi there, I purchased on early August a brand new HP 15 Pavillon N253SL with AMD A6. After just a couple of weeks now the fan always go at max speed and it's pretty noisy. Any idea on why it happened and what to do?

Hi alezante

try to update the bios of your pc

go to support.hp.com then down below you need to enter the product number of your pc, go to drivers,   next to that it will ask you for the Operating system running on your pc then scroll bown the page BIOS then download it, make sure charger is connected before doing this.

thanks!

Do not update the BIOS. That is not a catch all solution.

The solution could be something as simple as:

Enter the BIOS, go to the system configuration tab took for a Fan always on option. Make sure that disable is selected.

My BIOS is f.15 and I run Win 8.1 64bit

After some trial and error I figured out it's Gmail on Chrome which is sucking all PC resources which is kind of strange, isn't it?

Was the fan always on option enabled in the BIOS?

The BIOS version F.15  that you said that is installed is the most current version. THere were previous versions of the BIOS.  A BIOS update may have caused this , unless  you have found that the fan always option was enabled. YOU can check the logs in the HP Support Assistant to see which updates were applied. It may be worthwhile to turn off automatic updates if that was what caused the problem.

You can rollback the BIOS to the previousby entering the start menu and then clicking on F2 to invoke  PC Diagnostics. Select Firmware management and then rollback to previous version.

Try Microsoft's own Sysinternals Process Monitor to see what is keeping your CPU busy.
