hp omen
Microsoft Windows 8 (64-bit)

Hi all,

I purchased my Hp Omen in december and have treated it like gold since, but whenever my is is on a flat surface the right fan constatly makes a rattling noise that only gets louder when i game. I have updated the bios, and try to keep my software constantly up to date, and none of this has fixed anything.

I havn't cleaned the fans, one because i dont know how to on this laptop, And two, because i didnt think I would need to 5 months, however i am not an expert and I could be wrong.

It is really quite annoying and I would like to get this resolved asap. So if anyone has any advice, please let me know.

Thanks for the help in advance!

Cleaning should not be necessary so soon unless you are using it in a sawmill. Unfortunately a rattling fan needs replacement. The unit should still be under warranty so I would recommend you call HP for warranty service on it.

Okay, I probably will ring up, however I should probably say (just incase it changes your comment) that when its rattling, if I either lift it up, or put somthing under the laptop on either side to prob it off of the flat sureface alittle, the rattling stops, when i put it back down on the surface, it starts again. (i've been using the edge of some coasters just one on each side of the laptop to prop it 'just' of off the surface)

Thanks for the quick original reply 🙂

Sounds like the fan is not bolted in there right.
