I have the HP Pavilion dv6-6c35dx Entertainment notebook pc, and recently my fingerprint reader stopped working, and I looked to see why and it told me that it was not connected. My operating system is 64 bit windows 7 home premium. Any help would be appreciated with step by step instructions if you could, as I don't really know much of what I am doing when it comes to computers.

Start with the easiest fix:
Sometimes all you need to do is kick the computer. This method works for a variety of connection and ‘stuck’ program issues.
- Disconnect all external devices first.
- Remove AC power and the battery
- Press and hold power button for at least 30 seconds
- Reinstall only AC power for first startup ** See Note
- Power on - Log in
- Next time you shut down the system, reinstall battery.
** Note: You can ignore the bit about leaving the battery out. If you like, reinstall battery the first time and be done with it.
Next, kick the Validity Sensor Driver:
Reinstall the Current Validity Sensor Driver:
- Control panel >icon view > Device Manager > Biometric Devices > Right-Click Validity Sensor > Uninstall
- Scan For Hardware Changes
- Restart the computer
Let me know. If that does not fix it, it can be kicked a lot harder than this.
Question: Have you ever Exported your SimplePass Webcards? That is, have you made a backup of your SimplePass password database?
I hope this helps!

You are welcome! I am glad it's fixed.
Keep that "Reset" around.
Hard Reset works for a lot of "hangs",
"things that are stuck", and
general "Nothing works; and I hate this computer" sort of ills.
