I can't find drivers for four devices - Base System Device, Fingerprint Sensor, PCI Serial Port, PCI Simple Communications Controller. Any ideas?

Use the Windows 7 drivers...
I could never get the audio to play the windows logon audio file on a cold boot. It would only work on a warm boot.
Everthing worked great for a couple of months, and then one day when I started the PC, the wireless button would not turn on no matter what I tried.
So, I reinstalled W7.
I hope that doesn't happen to you.

So just to let everyone else know, try Win 7 drivers and most of them should work. I still didn't get my fingerprint reader to work - not compatible driver, but i don't use it anyway.
I'm quite happy with Win8 at the moment, it's really fast, faster then brand new HP 8740p with Win7 lol. I only use my laptop for browsing and MS office so no need to upgrade for at least few years

You're very welcome.
You did get the fingerprint driver to install, though, correct?
I had no devices needing drivers in my device manager, and I used all of those drivers.
I think if you actually need to use the fingerprint driver, you would have to try the protect tools security manager software from a newer PC like the 8470p.

Right so after couple of weeks of testing and reinstalling drivers and software i still have one problem. All devices seem to be installed correctly and it all seems to be working fine except for skype. I can dial or receive calls (as soon as I or another person answers it disconnects). Skype displays message that there is some problem with my microphone. It doesn't work in skype but i tested it on sound recorder and it works perfectly. I also tested my headphones with mic and it's exactly the same. I assume the Win7 drivers are not compatible with Win 8 skype app. Is there any chance HP will put on proper Win 8 drivers for this model?

Sorry, that you can't get that application to work.
Absolutely zero chance HP will release W8 drivers for the 6930p.
They aren't even releasing any for the 8440p which superceded it.
Their official position is no W8 drivers for any PC purchased prior to Oct 1, 2011.
The 6930p came out in late 2008 although you could still get them new as late as Dec 2010.

I am very happy with my 6930p, but I wish mine had the camera.
Mine has the ATI Radeon graphics, but no webcam.
The thing I liked about W8 was how fast that OS booted on the 120 GB Intel SSD I installed.
It was at the lock screen in less than 10 seconds.
To bad it hosed my wireless button and I had to go back to W7.
That still boots up fast on a SSD, but nowhere as fast as W8 does.
