After a few days of use, I declare it a fix! Time to call HP and hopefully I can cancel my replacement.

Glad to hear--gave you kudos for making aware that F.07 was even available!

(same model# as yours) I recently updated my BIOS from F.06 to F.07. (I liked that it would fix the intermittent fast typing issues - dropped characters). It was also supposed to provide improved proximity sensor performance. But it makes the fan run loud, at high velocity and neary continuously. With F.06, the computer was cool, and very quiet, with the fan running as needed with low velocity. Beause of this issue, I reverted to F.06. Is this a known issue with F.07? Did you get the issue on yours?

Personally, I couldn't stand the flickering red lights of the proximity sensor so I disabled it altogether--can't comment on the performance issue there... As for the fan issue, I haven't noticed a difference in speeds between F.06 and F.07. I'm suspecting that CoolSense has more to do with your problem than anything else. Try disabling and enabling it to hear the difference in fan speeds (FYI, I disabled mine and my system's been running just fine under full load for prolonged periods).
