Hello, I want to start by stating that I had a repair done by HP back in March that went beautifully, they were so helpful, the repair was perfect, and the whole process was effortless! I'm hopeful but afraid about this issue. I too have had the hinge on my Envy suddenly crack open. No falls, drops, or damage. Everything works fine except for this hinge that just bulged out. What worries me is that this seems to be a popular problem, yet no recall has been made to fix it that I am aware of, and now that my Envy is more than a year old (which in my financial life is not that old!) I will be have to pay for a repair that seems to be somehow common. I would LOVE to hear that HP is standing behind their product and making things right with their customers, that is the name of the game right??? Repeat business??? Thanks for your consideration. I also have issues with my hinges. But not only that, I also have a bright spot on my screen, issues with the bottom cracking (caused by the hinge crack), and finally some of the plastic fins are missing where the heat exhaust is. My problem is that my warranty has already expired and I cannot afford costly repairs. This is my primary computer too. Knowing that I couldn't afford costly repairs, I have tried to do temporary fixes to it myself, but they aren't going to hold forever.

I have had my m6-1105dx for a little over a year, I am always very careful with it, never dropping it nor slamming it close. A few weeks ago i noticed that the right hinge began to come apart. The problem has become increasingly worst, that now i cannot close the computer without feeling tension from the bending plastic. I do know that my pc is out of warrenty, however this is a common manufactor issue. I am a long time HP customer and recommend them to all my friends and family. I have never had an issue like this with any of their computers before. After doing some research, I found that this is in fact a common problem with the envy notebooks and that HP has repaired the issue. Who should I contact in order to resolve this situation? Thanks!

My issue has been resolved completely! I was referred to a specialist, Anne, who arranged for it to be sent in for repair. Everyone I spoke with was very professional and I couldn't be happier with the resolution! I am a happy HP customer, problems may happen, but when you take care of you customers they stay customers for life!

I purchased my Laptop in November of 2012. A year and a half later I am having the same problem with a broken hinge assembly. I have been quoted by a private repair company that it would cost me approx. $300 to fix, which is well over half what I paid for the unit when it was brand new.
The right hinge has bulged out and is bending several pieces of plastic in the lower base of the laptop and on the screen. I am told eventually this hinge will give way and will need to be fully replaced. I find it absurd to make the $300 repair on my own, when it appears to be a defect since I care for my laptop very well.
Does anyone know if HP has made a recall on this model for the hinge assembly?

Currently I'm having the same issue with my Envy M6-1105dx, and the right hinge sprung loose. My left hinge is at the point where its nearly about to come apart, so I desperately need help on what to do despite my warranty ending last Christmas. Help please! DX
