HP Pavillion dv4000 hard drive compatibility (320GB 5400 RPM 2.5" ATA-6)

I am trying to determine if the
Western Digital WD3200BEVE 320GB 5400 RPM 2.5" ATA-6 Internal Notebook Hard Drive - OEM

is compatible with my dv4000.

ATA-6 will be ok. But this chipset that You have (Intel i915GM) can even work with Sata1 HDD's. Question is which motheboard You have? If only EIDE then this ATA-6. If with Sata then Sata1 is for You. So i recommend to remove disk and to check which standard You have. How to do it documenatation here (page 111).

Re: HP Pavillion dv4000 hard drive compatibility (320GB 5400 RPM 2.5" ATA-6)

Hi John,

I have the same laptop (dv4000, p/n EC681AV) and I am about to replace my hard drive too. I take two models into consideration: Seagate Momentus 5400.3 160 GB (ST9160821A) and the one you asked about - WD Scorpio 320 GB (WD3200BEVE).

So my question is: have you finally bought that WD3200BEVE? Did it fully work with dv4000? Thank you for your reply in advance!

Peter
