HP ScanJet 5370c driver for Windows 7 Ultimate

I have Windows 7 Ultimate on my computer and I can not find a driver for my HP ScanJet 5370c scanner.  I was told that by buying the Ultimate upgrade I would be able to use the things I used with Windows XP.  I have tried to download a driver for this scanner but there isn't one available for Windows 7.  What can I do to get my scanner to work?  Will there be a driver for it soon?

Re: HP ScanJet 5370c driver for Windows 7 Ultimate

I have the same issue with my new HP desktop loaded with Windows 7.  My HP 5370C scanner, which functioned perfectely with my old desktop running Windows XP, is now useless.  When will HP be providing the driver for Windows 7?  There is no need for this otherwise useful scanner to end up in a landfill.

Please add my voice to the chorus!

I'm running Windows home premium and already had to buy a new printer due to lack of support (HP printer less than 5 years old).

My 5370 scanner works great and I don't want to have to buy another scanner!

I too have the same issue with HP on this.  I have a perfectly good 5370C ScanJet that is now unusable since I purchased a new HP desktop running Windows 7.  I believe this decision is totally irresponsible of HP an a clear indication of how their corporate culture has evolved into a profit over the needs of customers mindset.

VueScan software works great with the 5370C on Windows 7 64bit. It was $40, but cheaper than a scanner. It's from Hamrick Software. I downloaded the demo first to try it. Demo works well but puts a watermark of dollar signs on anything you try to save until you buy it. Other option was installing XP mode for free and then scanjet software, but I wasn't willing to go through the pain of doing all that.

Re: HP ScanJet 5370c driver for Windows 7 Ultimate

Hi everyone, try installing your software then running your scanner using the compatability wizard.

Click Start, then type run programs made for older versions of windows; click these words in results above your text.

Now when the Program compatability wizard box shows up, be sure to click "Run as Administrator, then click the word "advanced at bottom left, then UN-check the box nest to "Apply repairs automatically." Then click Next.

The program will suggest some programs--if your is not there,  select not listed and browse to your program. It will then (I'm talking from memory--cause I don't have an old program to run) show you different Windows Operating systems to choose from.

Click the choice you want (I'm assuming Win XP) then it will ask you to run the program, then click next.

Keep experimenting with versions until you get it to install, then run your scanner software.

Please reply back if you get hung up---or if you're successful!

Good Luck

Re: HP ScanJet 5370c driver for Windows 7 Ultimate

Hi collishaw, when did you get the "scanner not found statement" when you clicked on your scanner in printers and devices?

Run the compatability wizard again, and use it to run your scanner---now---same as you did for the installation software.

Please reply back and let me know how you're doing!

Good Luck--
