Hi, recently I received an error message on my HP Envy 6z-1000 laptop from the SMART program saying that hard disk failure was imminent and to back up my data. I immediately cut off the laptop and booted into the SMART diagnostics. I ran a Hard Disk test and it failed with this failure ID: Q090HS-67373V-XD7X1F-608S03. I could not find a list of error codes to reference online, so could someone tell me exactly what this code means? Also, if it does turn out to be faulty hardware, how long HP's warranty covers hard disk failure?

It is faulty hardware and the HP warranty on the hard drive is the same as the overall warranty....one year unless you bought an extension. Can you still get past the warning to Windows? If so, you should take this interlude as your opportunity to back up while you can.

Yeah, I think so. I haven't tried since I got the first initial warning, but I'm going to wait until I can get an external drive to back it up to before I try anything. Thanks for the help!
