How does the extended life battery (TV08) work? Does it kick in once the primary battery is dead?

I just received my extended life battery.  Following the "instructions", I was able to attach it to the bottom of my laptop.

I left it charging overnight.

Today, I unplugged my AC adapter and ran on battery.  After a couple of hours, my primary battery completely discharged.  I was expecting the extended life battery to "kick-in".  It did not.  My computer completely shut-down.

My question is, am I missing something on how to use this extended life battery or do I have a defective battery.

My laptop is a Probook 6455b.

Thank you.

Similar question here, with no answers, but maybe a clue to making it work for you.

I think I figured out my missing "link".  At the front of the battery, there are 2 metal "hooks".  These "hooks" need to hook into the bottom of the laptop (the slots are in the middle of the bottom panel).  Note:  This is in addition to the to slots at the rear of the laptop.

Report back how they work, if they work together or separately or anything else you notice.

There seems to be no documentation on how to attach them or how they work in addition to the normal battery, thanks.

Glad you figured it out.

Re: How does the extended life battery (TV08) work? Does it kick in once the primary battery is dead

I have an elitebook 6930p & am trying to use it with the TV08 battery as well.  The battery seems to work with the laptop, but makes a buzzing noise when in use (this does not happen with just the TD06 battery or when plugged into the docking station)

I called tech support & they told me the battery (being 14v) would overheat with the laptop.   Everything I can find on HP's site says the TV08 would be the correct extended battery for the laptiop.... does anyone know what the issue might be (with the buzzing, or which battery should be used)?

According to your service manual the tv08 (534063-291) is only for use on japan model 6930p elitebooks, chapter 3 page 28.

Did you read the service manual? it only shows a 4 cell or 6 cell battery to be used in that notebook.

458639-252 is a 8 cell.

TV08 is a general battery model number, it can have many specific part numbers.

The manual lists out the 8-cell 456946-001 battery (p.34)as the optional travel battery to use.    I have tried the computer with both this and the 456839-252 with the same results.
