How to burn a DVD on 2000-2b19wm

I recently purchased an HP 2000-2b19wm. My last laptop had windows XP so the jump to windows 8 was a bit jarring. Now I'm trying to find out if I can burn a DVD. When I looked up the specs it said that it came with a DVD burner but all I've been able to find so far is how to burn a data DVD. I want to burn an actual movie. Does the 2000-2b19wm only come with the ability to burn data DVDs or can it also burn movie DVDs? If it can burn movie DVDs how can I do it?

Windows natively has the ability to burn data DVDs. In order to author video DVDs you need extra software. You will not be able to take a copyright protected commercial movie DVD and copy it. However, if you have a video camera and want to make DVDs of the kids' basketball games you can use any one of a number of movie authoring software. Microsoft even offers a free "Movie Maker" as part of Windows Essentials, which is an add-in package for Windows 7 and 8.

Paid software has a lot more power, of course but Windows Movie Maker isn't too bad to start with. Youtube video showing installation:
