Pavilion G6 2005ax
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

My HP G6 laptop is not charging the battery and is not able to run using power adapter alone. The charging LED is not glowing at all. The laptop requires the battery to start up but once it starts up, the laptop is able to run using the power from power adapter. I took it to a local service centre and the guy said the motherboard has a short circuit and needs to be replaced.

I decided to try fixing the problem myself. I used a multimeter and found that the power adapter and DC jack are working fine and are giving output of 19.5V. However when I tested the battery charging pins the multimeter showed an output of only 2.6V. I am guessing there is some problem in the charging circuit. Can anyone help me?

Thanks.
