I do not not know if the product # reflects this but there were 2 processors available for this model;

Intel(R) Atom(TM) Processor N270 (1.60GHz, 512KB L2, 533Mhz FSB)

or

Intel(R) Atom(TM) Processor N280 (1.66GHz, 512KB L2, 667Mhz FSB)

I purchased the upgraded N280

Thanks Daniel!

With the confirmation that the 311 does accept 1333Mhz, I will conclude that those are to be used for the N280 and the 1066Mhz for the N270.

How strange there's no official statement from hp about the RAM upgrade!

The service manual is rather confusing for non-techies like me

  • page 4-16 is somehow unclear about DDR2 and DDR3 but only speaks about 1333 MHz speed
  • while page 1-2 stipulates the opposite with DDR3 only and the choice between 1066 and 1333 MHz speeds.

I raised a ticket asking for support but I'm still waiting for a valid answer :smileysad:

Wait and see :smileyindifferent:
