Plugged in, Not charging

[ Edited ]

Hello,

I have HP Pavilion dv6-6c45se Notebook , Running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit Edition

I bought it 2 weeks ago. It was fine, but about 5 days ago, I noticed something strange about the battery. When charging the battery, everything goes fine regarding the charging process until it gets charged about 71-72% and it shows " Plugged in, Not charging" message. then I drain it a little by about 5% (charge level becomes about 67%) then it continues charging again to 100%. when I bought it that strange behavior didn't occur and it continued charging without that interruption.

*Windows is up to date.

*Drivers are up to date.

*Battery status check is "OK"

So, anyone has a solution to this problem ?

Thanks beforehand

Re: Plugged in, Not charging

Hi,

First of all, shut down the notebook, unplug the AC Adapter, remove the battery, and then hold down the Power button for 30 seconds.

Now, plug in the AC Adapter without the battery inserted, start the notebook, open windows Control Panel, open Device Manager, expand the entry for Batteries, right click on and the Microsoft ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery and select Uninstall - do not uninstall anything else here.  When the uninstall is complete, shut the notebook down, unplug the AC Adapter, re-insert the battery and then start the notebook on just the battery.  Windows will automatically reinstall the driver - leave Windows running for a few minutes. Shut down the notebook again.  Now plug in the AC Adapter ( with the battery still inserted ) and start the notebook to see if this has helped the issue at all.

Regards,

Re: Plugged in, Not charging

Hi,

You're welcome and good to hear it's working :smileyhappy:

Although there are quite a few possible causes, most likely the driver had become corrupted or misconfigured and as in most cases where this is the cause, reinstalling the driver solves the problem.

Best regards,
