ProBoob 4440s WWAN module replacement

I have a ProBook 4440s with a failing WWAN module.  I've replaced it with a new module that has the same exact part number, yet BIOS informs me on boot that the module is not supported and disabled it (703).   There may be other criteria to select the proper WWAN card before ordering, but the part number is identical.

Many options in BIOS are grayed out and I cannot change most of them.  This is running Windows 7 Pro, and the disk is MBR/lagacy not UEFI/GPT.  It came with 7, never had 8.

1. how do I configure the UEFI BIOS to allow the card?

2. Do I need software running in Windows to do that?

3. Do I need Windows 8 to run that software?

4. is there something other than the part number that prevents this card from being accepted?

BIOS ver 68IRR ver. F.40

I thought the update I did yesterday was for the BIOS, but I will check again.

Please update your BIOS to F43

deactivate your Virusscanner for installation and install the old WWAN back.

"Install the old WWAN back?"  Then how does this solve my problem?
