Standard VGA instead of intel hd graphics 4000 in hp 2000-2116tu

Hello,

I am a newbie to graphics. When I bought my laptop I was told that it has inbuilt intel hd graphics 4000. So when I checked the device manager there was no such driver or device. Is this because it is inbuilt in the processor or have I missed installing any driver.

Please help me.

You need the Intel graphics driver:

Thank you sir.

But the link you gave just sends me through to the product page of 2000-2116tu. Please can u get me the exact link.?

Also there are no devices listed under the other devices option. I have only Standard VGA under the display adapters section in the device manager and there is no other devices section which shows the list of devices with no drivers.

In this case I do not understand why the device corresponding to intel hd graphics is not shown and would the installation provide me the needy?

I downloaded the graphics driver for intel from this link

http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?lang=eng&DownloadType=%0aDrivers%0a&OSFullname=Wind...

But when I tried to install it said that the system does not meet the minimum requirements. Is this because I have no dedicated video memory, system video memory and shared system memory in advanced settings.

Please help me to set these too.

Thank you.

Right click on the standard vga adapter and report properties/details.hardware ids. Intel HD 4000 is this:

PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0166&SUBSYS_1894103C&REV_09

To get the correct driver we will need to know if you have 32 bit or 64 bit Windows. The link you posted is for 64 bit. You might also need to install the Intel chipset driver. What I do not understand is how this driver is missing on a brand new unit. HP images these computers with a standard image containing all the drivers. No way one laptop is missing one driver.

Re: Standard VGA instead of intel hd graphics 4000 in hp 2000-2116tu

the hardware ids are :

PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0166&SUBSYS_1858103C&REV_09
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0166&SUBSYS_1858103C
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0166&CC_030000
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0166&CC_0300

You are correct I am using a 64bit Win 7 OS. I have upgraded the Ram to 6 GB.

From what you had given I see that it does not have the actual id.

Please do make note that when I right click on the desktop -> screen resolution -> advanced settings ->

I see n/a for

Dedicated video memory, system video memory and shared system memory.

I have dedicated graphics of only 64mb.

I have a bois version of F.12

Hope this information is useful to you.

Thankyou for your support

I tried installing the driver you gave me. But it says that

"Your system does not meet the minimum requirements"

I updated the driver by right clicking on it in the device manager. That solved the problem. I figured out that this happens because Intel hd 4000 graphics driver was released after the release of win 7. Hence win 7 provides the basic driver while installing. Once you get connected to the net and if you update it the correct driver will be installed.

It turned out to be very simple in the end.

Thank you all for your support.
