Tx2000 wireless problems.

[ Edited ]

To save everyone a long read, I am going to refer you to the following thread here on the forumsI encourage everyone to read this first, it describes the problem in great detail, and the resolution of the problem, albeit after several months...

http://forum.tabletpcreview.com/announcement.php?f=8&a=9

This is the exact same problem I am experiencing, in addition to the wireless issues, my tx2000 fails to resume from suspend or sleep modes.   I bought this computer last may for my first year of collegeRight after the warranty expired, the wireless and suspend/sleep go out on me.

I recently got off the phone with an hp representativeAfter a long drawn out conversation (not including the disconnected call...) I was able to convince the representative from hp to forward my case onto a case managerI was also strongly dissuaded (by the hp representative) from continuing with the process of seeking a case manager about this problem because of the intense amount of time and effort it would take to get this resolved (seriously...she actually said this).

Hopefully, this problem will be resolved in the next few days to a week, instead of 3 months later (in the case of the link above).

Re: Text's wireless problems.

[ Edited ]

Well I just got off the phone with my case manager Richard.  Everything went as was expected.  HP confirmed the problem, offered to have me send it in so they could fix it, although at my cost.  They offered to take 50% off of the repair price, which is still not acceptable. This is a problem with the way the computer was built, nothing of my doing.  HP should step forward and resolve this.

At the moment I am trying to find a reputable business that can pull apart my computer and see what really is wrong with it.  If I can get someone to confirm that this is in fact the problem I am experiencing, maybe, just maybe I can convince HP to do something about it.  I am comfortable with taking the bits apart, but the only problem is, I don't have a clue as to what I should be looking for.

It looks like my only option right now is to replace the thermal paste. I have found several guides on how this is done, although, even if I do this fix, it only slows the damage that will eventually happen, and it will do nothing for my wireless.

If you are experiencing problems with your HP computer that are similar to mine, a petition to HP has been started:

http://www.petitiononline.com/deadhptx/petition.html

I don't know how effective it will be, but it takes less than a minute to read through and sign, and the more the better.

Re: Tx2000 wireless problems.

Well, to make a really long story short; I was able to get a phone number for corporate from my case manager.  I used this phone number, and eventually was routed to Executive Customer Relations.  After waiting a couple hours a "Dan" to called me back.  His response was that HP case managers are the highest authority on cases like mine.  The offer from my case manager "Richard" still stands; $400 for the repair of my computer.

So, at the moment, my route of action is going to be as follows:

1) Get a hold of as many agencies as possible and file complaints against HP.

-I have already filed a complaint with BBB, should be recieving a call soon.

2) Dissuade everyone I possibly can from buying an HP computer.

-I wish there was a way I could keep a tally of the $$$ of revenue that I have prevented other people from wasting on HP products.

3) Continue to pester HP as much is physically possible in the next several months.

It is my understanding that several people have been able to get their computers fixed out of warranty and AT NO COST to them.  On one occasion, a TX- line computer was eventually replaced with a 2730p.  If you are having similar problems with your HP computer, do not pay HP anything!  This is a defect in the way the computer was built, and as a customer you deserve to have this fixed by HP at no cost to you, several people already have.

Re: Tx2000 wireless problems.

I have just finished filing a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission.  If enough people complain, this WILL get resolved.

Re: Tx2000 wireless problems.

Well, after only one month of pestering HP, I finally received a phone call (compliments of BBB).  I will be sending in my tx2000 shortly to get my wireless fixed.

Out of warranty.

At no cost to me.

If you have similar problems, do not give up.  If you are persistent you CAN get this resolved.

Also, on another note, I finally found a program that would give me the temps of the CPU and GPU (CPUID).  After letting it run for an hour or so to get a good idea of the average temperature during regular use (Pandora and Firefox) of my computer, here were my results (max temps, although the mins weren't more than 5-6 degrees lower):

 CPU

    -Core #0 - 97 C

    -Core #1 - 98 C

GPU

    - 104 C

As a comparison; I could boil WATER with my GPU.  Honestly, I see my computer as a hazard to everything that it is even remotely adjacent to.  Unfortunately, hp will only be repairing my wireless, and will most likely do nothing about the intense amount of heat this tablet puts out.
