Re: Upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 8 on my HP G72-c55DX My dvd-r burner no longer works

Hi,

Open windows Control Panel, open Device Manager and expand DVD/CD-ROM Drives.  On the General tab, is there an error showing in the device status box?

Regards,

Re: Upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 8 on my HP G72-c55DX My dvd-r burner no longer works

Hi,

First, try the automated fixit from Microsoft on the link below.

http://support.microsoft.com/mats/cd_dvd_drive_problems/en-us

Check if the drive is now working.

If it still doesn't work, open windows Control Panel, open Device Manager and expand DVD/CD-ROM Drives.  Right click the drive and select uninstall.  Do not delete drivers if asked.  When the device has uninstalled click on the 'Scan for Hardware Changes' icon on the toolbar.  Let windows reinstall the drive and see if it now works.
