Hi all,  I was going to buy a custom configured DV9500 online from Costco but then I saw a comparable one at the Costco warehouse  and bought it there.  Online the Dv9500 with the SAME specs came with 2Gigs of memory but listed it as maxing out at 4Gigs. That is one of the reasons that I bought the Dv9500 series was to expand it later and I assumed that it would be the same.

Now I find myself using CS5 and lightroom3 more and I want to expand my memory. But HP says the dv9543cl I purchased at Costco is maxed out at 2Gigs. Why would that be when you can upgrade Identical HP Pavilion DV9500s with an identical Core2 Duo T7300 processor and the identical Intel PM965 chipset and Southbridge 828001HBM (ICH8-ME)?

Is it because of the manufacture, Quanta (30CB 79.2E)? Or is it maybe being limited by the Bios?

Thanks, I would appreciate any help that you guys can offer.

posibly just has two 1 gig sims and no more spots.

you can prob upgrade but will have to buy 2 2gig or 1 4 gig ram stick and donate the original stuff to another laptop

I just upgraded the RAM using 2x2gb modules for a 4Gb total. With a few tweaks in msconfig, the system reads and uses 4Gb. The CPU was a T7300 and it was upgraded to a T9300, 2.5Ghz, 800FSB, 6Mb L2 cache. The RAM usable size was limited to 2Gb by the setup in msconfig, BOOT.INI,advance settings, MAXMEM had to be unchecked and the new size is operable. With the increased size, I then used 500Mb as a RAMDisk for internet TEMP files.
