You are going to love this. I have 3.0 USB on my dv7.
Get a bright light and shine in on the left side of the notebook.
Now get a magnifying glass and look carefully next to the USB ports.
The 3.0 ports are marked with the "SuperSpeed" logo. "SS"
Similar to this, but very, very tiny!
To get maximum speed, use only with usb 3.0 devices - external drives, usb sticks, etc., made to run with this technology. There is absolutely no harm in using the ports with usb 2 devices. I have found that using a usb 3 external drive connected directly to the onboard usb 3 port works better than connecting that same drive to to a high quality usb 3 hub. There is the slightest bit of latency in the hub vs the direct connect. Personal choice. My other usb 3 devices are fine for my uses on the SIIG Hub - it's a very fine quality device, IMO.
It is my pleasure to assist.

HP Pavilion DV6 - 3105tx Notebook pc has 3 USB ports only but it has 4 USB port holes.please show me where are USB 3.0 Prots on my HP pavilion DV6 3105tx notebook pc (silver)?
On the left side of the notebook you will notice that one USB port is slightly larger than the other. This is a combination "USB/e-SATA" port. The rest are normal USB ports. Nothing indicates to me that any of the USB ports are USB 3.0. It isn't even mentioned in the specifications.
Have a great day.
