Wireless Module not supported

Hi! If someone have any tip what to do more, please help!

HP ProBook 4530s

p/n: LH978PA#AB1

BOIS: 68SRR ver.F.41

I have WWAN non-ready notebook (no additional Mini PCI-E slot installed)

Installed only WiFi+BT (HP p/n: 592775-001) card in additional Mini PCI-E Half Height slot - WiFi is working in notebook with no problems.

After motherboard replacement, when powering notebook I have message:

Wireless Module not supported

WWAN Module ID (703)

Why this message appears? I have no WWAN module installed!

I was trying:

1)      Loading BIOS defaults

2)      Upgrade to latest BIOS from HP

3)      When remove WiFi+BT card – this message appear anyway

4)      When disable Wireless in BIOS – this message appear anyway

I have heard about BIOS card whitelist, but as I know no solution is found.

How to remove this message? Maybe hard reset? Why system is pointing to WWAN module I never had?

Re: Wireless Module not supported

Hi ReoN,

Is the wireless disabled in HP Connection Manager?

Open the HP Connection Manager and choose Preferences.  Here you can deselect the Wi-Fi options.

I work for HP.

Re: Wireless Module not supported

Hi, ironcoog! Thank you for your attention to my prob.

Now I performed minimal start: Motherboard + CPU + RAM + LCD + power.
That's it. So no additional devices connected.
Still this message :smileysad: Maybe it stored as error in BIOS flash? (as a vehicle controller, you know, once was error, then error is stored until reset)...

Also I have tried to replace WiFi module with non-compatible. Then I see 2 messages - 1st about WWAN module, 2nd about WLAN module not supported. When placing back "native" WLAN card - message about WLAN disappear, but message about WWAN still there.

Also I have removed BIOS battery and started notebook to fully reset BIOS, nothing helps.

Maybe some other tricks could be done with BIOS to reset to factory state?

Thank you!

Re: Wireless Module not supported

The HP 4530s ProBook can be configured - at the factory - with or without a wwan card. It is possible that when the motherboard was replaced, a wwan-version may have been installed and that is why you may be seeing the issue. The BIOS sees the wwan missing. That is my best guess. I suspect, you may have to go back to HP support and get the motherboad changed to the appropriate version.

I may be wrong in this answer, but sounds logical to me. Hope this helps
