hp BD ROM BC-5550H SATA CdRom Device not working

hp BD ROM BC-5550H SATA CdRom Device - issue - not functioning

I just started to get this error....

Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)

On the device status of the hp BD ROM. Windows 7. Hp Pavilion dv6 notebook.

Have tried Microsoft fixit

Have tried uninstall and reinstall

Nothing seems to make a difference.

Hi,

Try following the procedure under the sub-heading 'Let me fix it myself' on the link below to manually remove the Upper and Lower filters and see if this helps the issue.

Re: hp BD ROM BC-5550H SATA CdRom Device not working

Thank you DPK...

I did actually find a post here that led me through a registry change for the filters that did end up working, enabling me to play a DVD using Cyberlink Power DVD package.

Now however Itunes is complaing that a registry setting is missing for importing and burning CDs and DVDs.

I guess it is clear that some sort of conflict exists.  It would be great to have a solution where both Itunes and Cyberlink would work.  Unfortunately it is difficult to "dump" itunes ....  Any suggestions?  Maybe replace Cyberlink??

Hi Laurie,

Hopefully this isn't a conflict, but just the result of a corrupt filter entry - most likely you'll find that if you uninstall iTunes, restart the notebook, then download and install iTunes again, it will all work Ok.
