I have a HP Paviling g7-1219wm notebook pc

This morning i woke up to a blank screen.  I was able to do a hard restart by unpluging everything, removeing the battery and holding the power switch down for 15 sec.  pluged the ac power cord in and hit power. Yay!!!  It came on for 2 mins....  black screen again.  Restarted the computer and got the 2 blinking lights from the cap lock and number lock key...  HP says this is a crouped bois.  I have version  F.32 and the new one is F.46 and it says this updte will fix the Bios problem!  PERFECT!!!!!!

WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

HP says you need to login into windows and install this bios flash...... hmmmm   how can I do that if I cant boot into windows!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Help me please before i pull my hair out....  What am I missing???

Re: Blank Screen / Bios update / 2 Blinking Lights

G1itchy,

You can use UEFI to reflash that BIOS.

You can download the tools you need and put it all on a USB stick.

You do not need Windows running.

You will be OK as long as your hardware holds together.

Rather than go through the whole thing here, I will point you to the docs you need and the posts that explain... Mumbodog's post is a bit long; drag through it as it has good info.

Here is the softpaq (patch / software) for the UEFI that you need:

HP Unified Extensible Firmware Interface (UEFI) sp54688 V4.1.0.0

Here is the Post by our Expert Mumbodog

How to use the HP BIOS update (uefi) utility

An HP doc on the subject of restoring the BIOS.  (Note that HP_Tools is the partition that contains the tools that is ordinarily on the disk... these are the bits that you will install onto the USB flash drive/key/stick.)

Restoring the BIOS

I hope this enough to get you going again...

I hope it helps!

Good Luck!

Re: Blank Screen / Bios update / 2 Blinking Lights

You are the man!  You really need to read that whole post to get it to work. But none the less it did!  I updated to F46!  restarted went into the bios to check! Perfect!  it works..  this is where I thought it would end..... but it didnt.  Log in to windows...  played around for 5mins.... computer restarted...  back to square one... I have those **bleep** 2 flashing lights again.....   Any ideas?

[ Edited ]

Hey.. Half way there.

Well, it could be the MoBo, CPU... bunch of stuff... hard drive?

Here's Another doc.  Yeah...

It does have the "Blinking Light Chart" that tells you what to expect.

Troubleshooting LED Blink Codes or Beep Codes During Startup or Boot

And...

The UEFI help run some tests...

Not real specific, but good to have as a "list" on the side...

Resolving Start Up and No Boot Problems Checklist

Sorry it was not magic all the way!

Good Luck!
