Hello, I have a HP Pavilion dv6 running Windows 7 64-bit, that just began giving me this issue this evening. I rebooted the machine and after the HP BIOS splash screen, all I get is a black screen with a blinking white cursor.
I have attempted to boot into Safe Mode, with no luck, I can not get to a point where the screen would become available. I've attempted to boot into the recovery console, but when I do I am greeted with a BSOD with a BAD_SYSTEM_CONFIG_INFO error. When I got that, I grabbed the media recovery disks I created when I got the computer as was able to boot into that and run the recovery manager, but it did not correct the issue. Finally, I have run a Primary Hard Disk Self Test and Memory Test from within the BIOS, both passed.
I am now attempting a factory reset and if that resolves the issue I will be sure to update here. In the meantime, I was wondering if there were any other options available for me to try should this not work, before I take it in to where I purchased the machine about 9 months ago sometime over the next couple days.
As far as I am aware nothing was installed on the machine and there were no hardware changes made to it that would have prompted this. I know that a few weeks ago we had an issue with the Google Redirect virus, but that was removed and it has been running fine the 3 weeks since then.
Thank you for any help you can give.
