Hi
We have a CQ61 that was popping up a message in HP Advisor, unfortunately we did not make a note of the message. Now HP Advisor wont run and when we do a bit of web browsing the system will start running very slowly after a while.
This happens regardless of the web browser used (Firefox or IE) and we suspect that it might have something to do with a plugin interacting with a system resource, e.g. sound however we do not know how to track this down. When viewed using system monitor it shows that at the point of failure the CPU usage goes up to 100% almost all of the time. Shutting down the web browser seems to reduce the problem however not completely and any web browsing thereafter resurects the issue almost immediately regardless of how simple a web page is being viewed.
Any help would be gratefuly appreciated

I assume you already run Windows Update (and accepted any Office and IE updates). If not, do that first.
In IE, select Tools->Internet Options, select the "Programs" tab, and in the Manage Add-ons section, click on the "Manage Add-ons" button.
You can try disable some or all and see if the problem go away. If so, you can narrow down which one that casued the issue.
If not, you might then try clean up the cache - Tools->Internet Options, Delete.
I am an HP employee.
