I have an HP HDX X18-1180US notebook. It runs Windows 7 Ultimate. This morning it decided to take a crap. It's a pretty basic machine. I only us it when one of my other computers is being worked on, or for mobile computing, of course. When I turned it on this morning, it got to the "H-P invent" splash screen, where it says "Press the ESC key for Startup Menu" at the bottom left of the display, and it just stopped. I pressed ESC, F1, F2, F5, F8, F10, Del; nothing works. I disconnected it from the AC power, then took out the battery to make sure that it was completely off. Then re-connected it to the AC power, and tried it again. I've tried this a dozen times, and it still completely locks up at the splash screen. It won't even let me access the System BIOS ROM. If I could access the Setup ROM, then I could change the "Boot Order" to boot from the DVD drive and re-install or repair Windows; but it won't even let me do that. Oh yeah, one other thing, I really don't care if I lose all the data on the drive, because yesterday I completed a "Full Backup" of the notebook's internal drive to an external NAS device on my network. Any ideas? Suggestions?

Please try these steps and check if this resolves your issue on your unit.
1) Disconnect the Hard drive & Memory from the back panel off your unit. Try only 1 stick at the time then try to turn on your unit and have it checked. Then try to remove the CMOS/RTC battery and then check these things should resolve your issue. Incase both these things does not resolve then issue could be the MotherBoard Failure.

I've tried all of those things. I' ve removed and re-installed the HDD, the memory and the battery. I even replaced the Setup/RTC battery with a new one. Still doesn't work. It seems to me that I have some very deep issues here. What do I do now?
