I have had my DV2 for about 18 months and early on had some difficultly with the 100% CPU problem. More recently it began again and then crashed - would not do a system restore. Running WIn 7pro 64bit. My wife has the same laptop and hers will not boot to Win 7, but checkdisk was ok. After losing some important data I was working on at the time and wasting days trying to recover it I did a clean reload of Win 7 only to have the problem start again a few days later.
Yes I have virus software and spyware/malware software running. Yes I use a firewall.
We both bailed this week and bought new MacBook Pro's (I'm done with windows) but I want to keep the DV2 for backup if I can get this problem solved. It runs very hot and seems to start after it has been in use a while....
Any suggestions?

Hi,
Run the HDD and Memory tests from the bios.
Tap away at f10 as soon as you start the notebook to enter the bios menu. Under the Advanced or Diagnostic tab you should find the facility to run tests on the Memory and Hard Drive. Run both tests and post back with the results.
