DV6000- Crazy Horizontal striped screen after 10 minutes

The last 4 or 5 times I've run my HP6000 my computer screen turns into a horizontal striped crazy mess.    The only solution is to force shutdown.   I do not get the "windows shutdown improperly" note when I reboot.  I'm not sure what is happening.   It usually will run ok for 10 minutes before the screen comes.   I run Vista.

 

I'm not a computer guy but follow directions well.

Most likely your video card is coming apart from your motherboard due to heat problems.

To test connect a external monitor and see if the same screen problem occurs.

Does it look like this? lol. I have an external monitor. That's not a solution.

For sure your graphic card is defected.

First check this link. If your model is not on the list then try this topic. There are posted some solutions on this problem.

But I don't have the NVDIA problem as my graphics card is ATI Radeon HD 3200 but I am having the same issue

Hi,
1. Post your part number (p/n) . You'll find it at the bottom of the laptop on a sticker, which looks like this.

2. Is this laptop still under warranty?

3. What are you doing on it when this problem shows up?
