Here is what happened before my issue started. I put the computer to sleep before I went to sleep, when i woke up in the morning I opened the lid and normally my computer would wake up, however this time it didnt the screen remained black and I noticed the caps lock led as well as the num lock/scroll lock led was also flashing and the other blue lights were also on as well as the mouse pad light, only the caps and num lock LEDs were flashing. So i shut the computer off.
I turned it back on and heard the fan go on then nothing, it doesnt even get to POST. I tried several times, same thing. I got onto my roommate's laptop went online to search for similar issues. I cant find anything similar. I did see the HP site with the error codes, however they are for a fixed amount of flashings whereas mine does not stop after 1 to 6 flashings rather it keeps going. It was working fine till this point.
It was bought brand new and came with Windows Vista. I have had issues with it getting hot and was suggested I may want to upgrade to Win. 7 as this may solve that issue, I chose not to do so just yet, as everything else was working just fine and I wanted to leave well-enough alone.
Does anyone have any suggestions on what could be the problem here and what I should look into. I really need the computer for work and personal. Im from the states but I'm currently in Israel so I cant just take it back to where I bought it and I believe its out of warranty.
Any help would be much appreciated.

did you find any answers to your problem? I do have the same kind of problem, only the difference is that mine worked after some start attempts. I have a PAVILION DV7 laptop. i could not recognise the problem because the number and caps lock were blinking continently, though it started later with 3/4 start attempts. i hope if you solved your problem i may be careful about the things i have to do later and save and time.

I just recently had the exactly same problem. I went to bed, closing my laptop lid for the night, woke up and lifted the lid, just like I do every morning and found a blank screen with my Caps Lock and Num Lock LEDs blinking. They blinked only once then a 2 to 3 second pause and blinks again. It does not happen in rapid succession and does not stop (even though the website says it should only repeat 3 to 4 times). According to their website, it says that this is a "CPU not functioning properly" code. I ordered another CPU, the EXACT same one that came with the laptop (not the one they sell on the website, it's not the same nor is it cheap enough for me to afford), installed it, and it is still blinking. No matter how many times I restart the computer, it's not starting up. I've had the laptop apart two times now, soon to be three to see if there's anything else I can accomplish, and I'm losing all energy to repair it. But a new laptop I just don't have the money for. I've done everything their website says and it's still not working, so if you ever found an answer to this, please I would really like to know. If anyone else has an answer I would also like to know. (I may post my own thread, just to see if I get a response.)
