I have a DV7running Windows Vista that blue screens with CLFS.SYS PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA. This happens when trying to boot in safe mode or trying to going into system recovery. The only thing I am able to get into is BIOS setup.

Try booting to a Vista repair disk. You may have to borrow one if you never created one yourself.

Thank you Erico
I have downloaded a windows vista recovery iso. I was able to get back into windows with it. I have been able to copy all the data to an extenal hard drive. Windows is not operating properly but I will do and complete restore and post how it turns out.
Thanks Again

Now would be the time to go to a command prompt and type sfc /scannow and let it run.
The system file checker inspects all system files and replaces those it deems corrupt or otherwise damed with a clean copy.
That is how you can try to repair Windws from the inside. It is less hassle than doing a recovery since you don't lose your settings

I did not hve any luck with the SFC /scannow.
Went on to the System Recovery. I have tried several times and keep getting the message "The Recovery attempt has failed". When I select the details box I get the following message "CHK Err BB.CMD Detect some error during PIN_INST_BB" "CHK Err BB.CMD Check C:\System.sav\logs\BootBurnWarn.log. When I open the BootBurnWarn log the only thing that shows fialing is the following lines
"C:\SwSetup\Drivers\Audio\setup.exe -s" has been launched correctly
Result=FAILED
Standard Error information...
Standard Out information...
---------- C:\SYSTEM.SAV\LOGS\BB\AUDIO.LOG
Result=FAILED
Thanks in Advance for any suggestions.

i have a good recovery now. When I had the pop up "The recovery attempt has failed" it had a Details box and a Retry box to click on . After checking the details I exited the pop up and the installation finished. A desktop opened I took a break when I returned It had an Administrator lock out. I rebooted the computer and was able to finish the set up. I am now in the process of restoring the programs and data
