Dv6 runs slow with word 2010

i recently bought a DV6 abotu a month ago but when i open Word2010 it grinds to a halt and if i'm stupid enough to try to open endnote X2 at the same time it gets even slower,

 

those are 2 programs i use a lot and i use them together so its important but i'm really stuggling to understand why my laptop can't run them,

 

its a pavillion DV6

 

2.8 GHz AMD Phenom N620 Dual Core

4 Gb RAM

ATI Mobility Radeon HD4250 graphics

 

if anyone has any ideas as to why this isn't workign they'd be greatly apprieciated
