Envy 15 crashes several times a day.

This is a system only a couple of months old. It can be sitting with no programs active and screen will go blank or with a strange multicoloured pattern, then it reboots. Problem appears to be getting worse, crashed about 8 times today, Some days it is OK.

HI cjk1,

I recommend that you download and run WhoCrashed? to see what is causing the crash.  Run the Analyze and post your results here.

Are you seeimg a bluescrren with an error message?

Re: Envy 15 crashes several times a day.

Thanks Enco. I created a set of recovery disks first thing after I got it!

There is no blue screen, just a blank screen sometimes followed by a screen full of psychedelic colours for a few seconds before it goes into reboot. And it is getting worse with time which makes me suspect a degenerating component rather than a software cause.. However, I will checkout that program you suggested.

Regards,

Re: Envy 15 crashes several times a day.

I downloaded the WhoCrashed program. With 35 crashes (!!!) over a few days it came up with a couple of drivers that appeared to be the cause. I have since updated them so will see what happens. One is associated with ZoneAlarm and the other a USB3 driver.
