Hi guys,
I have an ENVY 15t-3000 with i7-2670QM and 6gb dd3.
In the first two months of using the laptop, everything was fine, But about 2 weeks ago my laptop started to freeze. I have tried several restores and uninstalled all the programs. I have also tried a format but it's useless.
I have installed Process Explorer to try and figure out what is making my 8cpu's running at 100%.
This is what's happening:
- Everything seems working fine
- Suddenly the laptop starts to hang with almost 5 seconds lag
- I run task manager and notice that all cpu's are running at 100%
- Sound starts to be distorted
- After about 5 minutes, the laptop goes back to normal.
I have run Process Explorer and noticed that sidebar.exe and audiodg.exe take about up to 20% of cpu usage during this problem.
Can someone help me please? Or someone who has had this problem and fixed it tell me what to do?
Thanks in advance
Daniel

Hi,
Update system by using Windows Updates.
Check the link below for more informations about it:
Using Windows Update Program to Update Microsoft Software in Windows 7
Note:
Uncheck all drivers from optional updates.

Hi,
Thanks for the reply. I did a format again using the recovery media. I unchecked the windows updates and did not update any drivers.
It is still doing it.
Any help please?
Thanks
Daniel

Hello,
I, too, have gone through this, and it sounds to me as if you may be having a minor bug issue! The i7-2670QM is acting in defense of itself against this bug! Please run a complete system scan with your antivirus engine! Once this scan is done, the CPU will calm down.
If it were a rattler. . . .

Hi,
thanks for the reply. What search engine did you use please? I have used Norton, AntiVir and Trojan Remover. The only thing that comes up is something concerned with bluetooth.
Coud you tell me what was the bug ?
Thanks
Daniel

I use Microsoft Security Essentials. It found it as a trojan, I picked it up on the WOW site, and my i7-920XM was hitting the ceiling before that bug was found! Even restroring didn't work or stop the problem, until I did a full scan and the OS was cleaned! Try this link and do a complete scan!
Oh, yeah! I didn't even download anything, just opened a link/window on the WOW site and:Bam!
The trojan was Trojan:Win32/Comame
http://www.microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/de
It's a short download and check to make sure your copy of windows is legal, but the scan takes awhile. But it's worth it.

Hi,
Thanks again, I just did the quick scan but it did not find anything. I am doing the full scan at the moment. Seems like it is going to take ages.
I will update when it's finished.
Thanks
Daniel

Hi,
Nothing was found. No threats or trajans or viruses.
Any more help?
Thanks

Hi,
Do you have installed now in system more then one antivirus?
Click start button and in search box write Resource monitor.
Choose it from above list and select CPU tab.
Click CPU column and now the highest values should be showed in the upper part of the column.
Take a screenshoot and add to next reply.
